Other Wildlife and Conservation Sites

Besides the Mashpee Refuge Partners, the Friends of Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge is happy to provide links to the following wildlife and conservation websites, which may be of interest to our visitors. Also listed are organizations to report sick or injured wildlife. Please feel free to contact us (see email below) to suggest other sites to add to our list.

  • WildCare Cape Cod is an organization whose mission is to help sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife through Wildlife Rehabilitation; to reduce the number of animals impacted by human activity through Educational Outreach; and to help protect the species and the ecosystems they represent through Advocacy and Conservation. If you find an animal in distress, please call their Animal Help Line at: 508-240-2255.
  • Birdsey Cape Wildlife Center is the Cape Cod Branch of the New England Wildlife Center. To report a wildlife emergency, call their Wildlife Hotline at 508-362-0111.
  • Mass Audubon protects more than 38,000 acres of land throughout Massachusetts, saving birds and other wildlife, and making nature accessible to all.
  • OspreyWatch is a global community of observers focused on breeding osprey. Visit their site to locate nests in your areas and participate in efforts to collect and disseminate information about these unique creatures.
  • New England Coast Wildlife Alliance (NECWA) is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to the protection and conservation of marine wildlife that live and feed in our coastal waters.
  • eBird, managed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, tracks bird sightings around the world and provides useful information to the birding community.
  • The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation is an international nonprofit organization that protects the natural world through the conservation of invertebrates and their habitats.
  • Native Plant Trust is the nation’s first plant conservation organization and the only one solely focused on New England’s native plants.
  • Pollinator Partnership – their mission is to promote the health of pollinators, critical to food and ecosystems, through conservation, education, and research.
  • APCC Native Plant Initiative from the Association to Preserve Cape Cod.
  • Here’s some helpful information about the use of RoundUp and non-chemical alternatives to herbicides and pesticides from consumer advocacy organization Consumer Notice. See also this information from the Xerces Society about the use of neonicotinoid pesticides. We are also including a link to another organization, drugwatch, about the use of Glyphosate as an herbicide used to kill weeds.
